DV8: a dark super-antihero adventure

Now features Improved Story Cards Deluxe v4 You are recruited for a secret government operation called DV8, intended to create super soldiers. Based on the 90s comic DV8 from Wildstorm. I had some fun playing superheroes and villains in other scenarios and was inspired to try my hand at a more complex type of comic-inspired story. There are seriously mature themes and elements such as body horror, drug addiction, espionage, and death. You are encouraged to create a flawed character who was created in a government lab and is now hunted by the very same people who created you. The person who save you cannot be trusted and you are on a team of similarly flawed and powerful individuals. I am having a lot of fun playing it myself and continue to make adjustments and fix typos where I find them. I make this for myself, but thought others may enjoy it as well. Please share any comments or feedback. Enjoy! Improved Story Cards Deluxe is a project I have undertaken to develop what I wanted to use in aiDungeon instead of trying to make what others had work. Improved Story Cards Deluxe has been broken down into different areas for documentation. *Improved Story Cards pulls info more accurately from the Story Cards in the background with a Config card for you to tweak. I have found it to be exceptional at keeping details about characters in the AI's context so they don't accidentally change a character's hair on accident, for instance. *Plot Secrets are sections of info on story cards that are obscured from the player, but not the AI. There is a GM Mode that will reveal the text to you, but I can't keep you from seeing the obscured info if you're even remotely clever, so the GM Mode is more of a break glass type of thing. I have included info on how to break glass to enable GM Mode so you can easily see the Plot Secrets. The AI always sees the secrets, and you can see what the AI sees if you look, so it's never actually hidden from you, just obscured. *Time Keeper keeps track of time while also sending the occasional blurb that includes the time, date, and weather using adjectives. Time Keeper is set to advance time 7 minutes on a turn, but you can add "/timekeeper +12m" to the end of your action if you feel the turn should take 12m instead. *Weather Bug sets and changes weather dynamically as you play and sending weather details to Time Keeper. It has parameters for each month that include adjectives for the way it feels, descriptions of the weather, and how long that state lasts. I have opted to keep these decisions in the backend for me to set when I create the scenario. It's helps establish the mood/tone of the scenario. I have opted for events to occur more frequently as opposed to more natural events that might leave a day empty of weather changes. Drama over realism. Improved Story Cards Deluxe Commands Time Keeper is coded to advance time forward only, and to also be used as part of your action. Allow me to demonstrate how one can use the function to take a nap. (Works with Do/Say/Story) Do: You take a nap. /timekeeper +2h5m To check the time, date, and weather, please use the following command: /timekeeper now It can be combined with a Do/Say/Story action by starting the action and then appending the /timekeeper command after it. To fix the Time of day (like if you delete a turn, Time Keeper doesn't know about deleted turns), use the following command: /timekeeper set 20:30 (using a 24 hour clock). To reveal the Plot Secrets, you must turn on GM Mode. To do so, use the following command: /gmmode breakglass GM Mode is a toggle that you can then turn back off. Some may enjoy playing with details about the characters obscured and try to find out the details through playing the scenario and engaging with the characters. Plot Secrets was created for you.
