It is the late 18th century and new science and machines have made life hard for millions across Europe and the cities of the United States. Factories are popping up, putting traditional professionals out of work and sending them into low-paying, dangerous work for wealthy owners of new factories. The rising freedoms throughout Europe and the newly-independent United States are not being spread eevenly and many are being left behind as Europe and America entera new age of mass-production, wealth, and science. A group of businesspeople, workers, scientists, politicians, and many more throughout both the new world and old have formed the Sarah and Abraham Industrial cosortium. This combination of business and manufacturing owners works to achieve the opposite of most combinations and uses its powers to try to promote more justice in the world rather than simply maximize profits. The intercontinental organization reaches out to try and make the new mechanized age more humane and tries to keep as many as it can from being crushed in the new gears of new forms of business and work.
