The Lich King’s Heart
In the grim and cheerfully morbid land of Veleskar, where the fog seems to conceal every conceivable disaster, dark forces are on the rise. At the center of this cursed realm stands the Black Cauldron, an ancient artifact of immense power capable of raising the dead and unleashing chaos. It has fallen into the hands of the Lich King, a skeletal tyrant who commands an army of bumbling goblins and nightmarish beasts. His most fearsome minions are his three lieutenants: a darkly sorcerous werewolf, a bloodthirsty hag who conjures storms of crows, and a golem of bone and iron. Against this encroaching darkness, a diverse band of misfits emerges: a human warrior with questionable timing, an elf with a tragically dramatic past, and a fairy princess who has an uncanny knack for inconvenient appearances. Their quest is to destroy the Black Cauldron before the Lich King’s army overwhelms the land. To do so, they seek the aid of Baba Yaga, a whimsical and unpredictable witch whose house walks on chicken legs. Baba Yaga holds crucial knowledge about dismantling the Lich King’s plans but demands bizarre and perilous tasks in return. Their journey takes them through a landscape steeped in Eastern European folklore: haunted forests with rusalkas, enchanted swamps where drowned spirits chat uninvited, and villages with disgruntled old gods. They must contend with Leshys, Domovoi, and a variety of vampires, all while navigating goblins so easily distracted they make toddlers look focused. In the final confrontation at the Lich King’s fortress, the party must not only destroy the Black Cauldron but also confront restless spirits of the past who are less than pleased to be disturbed.
