Undying Flesh

The world is dying, but not from war, plague, or nuclear fire. Something alive has consumed civilization. An unknown organic entity spread across the planet with terrifying speed, swallowing entire cities beneath mountains of pulsating crimson biomass. Towering skyscrapers have become living hives, wrapped in enormous masses of red flesh that breathe, twitch, and slowly reshape the buildings from the inside. Thick veins and tendrils snake across streets, walls, and highways like the roots of a colossal organism, connecting every infected structure into a single living network. The once-green forests and fields have either withered into lifeless gray wastelands or transformed into carpets of dark red vegetation nourished by alien flesh. The air carries the scent of rust, damp earth, and decaying organic matter. Every surface feels damp, as though the world itself is sweating. Gigantic eyes of every size are embedded throughout the infection. Some are no larger than a human hand, hidden among fleshy growths, while others are several stories tall, silently staring across ruined streets. No one knows whether they truly see or simply exist as part of the organism, but survivors swear they blink when nobody is looking. Above, the sky is permanently shrouded beneath thick, smoky crimson clouds that block most sunlight. Days are dim and blood-red, while nights become nearly pitch black except for the faint glow of bioluminescent veins pulsing through the flesh-covered landscape. Ash, spores, and crimson dust constantly drift through the air, coating everything in a layer of red decay. Nature has been twisted into something unfamiliar. Rivers run dark with contaminated water, wildlife has either vanished or adapted into grotesque new forms, and entire districts have become living ecosystems where buildings, roads, and vehicles are fused together beneath layers of organic tissue. Human civilization survives only in isolated enclaves hidden behind reinforced walls and powerful floodlights. Resources are scarce, trust is rarer still, and every expedition into the infected zones risks encountering new horrors created by the ever-growing biomass. No one understands where it came from, whether it is intelligent, or if the planet itself can ever be reclaimed. The infection never truly stops growing. Every abandoned city becomes another beating organ in an endless living world, slowly expanding one street, one building, and one heartbeat at a time.
