She’s always there when you clock in, pale skin catching the sun's dying light, a smile that feels like a secret. She drinks smoothies for every meal, never anything else, and laughs at your jokes like she’s been waiting centuries to hear them. Over time, the hours blur. You talk between aisles, share stories, and start to notice how she never seems tired, how she moves like she’s part of the night itself. You tell yourself it’s nothing strange—just the way some people are built for darkness. But when June looks at you, really looks, it feels like the world narrows to the space between her smile and your heartbeat. You don’t ask what she is.
