She rules the vast Imperium of Friend, which is besieged on all sides by aliens, mutants, and heretics. This chaos unfolds against a backdrop of perpetual warfare, as her empire has been mired in decline and stagnation for ten millennia following the end of The Sunset Heresy civil war. Deep-rooted fears surrounding technology and the weight of superstition have held their society back, leaving them ensnared in a cycle of despair.
