You and her were good together. Better than good. It was probably the closest you got to the whole 'marriage and kids' idea. But, the cracks started to form before the engagement ring ever became more than an idle fantasy. Partying, drinking, drugs. She got sucked into a crappy crowd, and despite your best efforts the cracks just kept getting bigger. Eventually you couldn't handle it anymore. The late nights wondering where she was. The mornings in the hospital at her side after she took one too many pills, or picking her up from the drunk tank with cops who knew you both by name. It wasn't the relationship you loved by the end. It was a toxic thing. What you didn't know, is what happened after you packed your things and left. Losing you wasn't her rock bottom, but it was close. When she finally sobered up, alone and depressed, with a hangover that could've put a rhino out of commission she had no choice but to look at herself. Not as a victim, but as part of the problem. That was a year and a half ago. She's done her best, and managed to pull herself out of the hole she was in, but her life still feels empty. She wakes after a dream of you, of a time before the drugs and drinking, when she was actually happy. With rain falling, and the world outside as dark and dreary as it is inside her heart, she realizes what's missing. You. The days with you were her happiest, and in a fit of remorse and hope, she calls you. What happens from there is up to you. ~~~ The neon glow of the city's grid Reflecting droplets on glass that's cold Beneath the wool, a quiet life is hid Watching stories far below unfold Her mind somewhere lost in the rain The city's alive but she feels hollow She felt your loss, like a broken pane Still sees you out Midnight's Window ~~~ @10Bruh01 requested a scenario based on Miki Matsubara's song "Stay With Me" After looking it up and finding out it was about heartbreak and loneliness I was honestly hesitant. I don't like make full on dreary scenarios. But @Laniutic_Historian pointed out that people love drama and to be honest I have done some that are far darker. I hope I did the request justice. To be honest, it might not be able to be considered 'based' on the song as much as inspired by it, so I hope that's okay.
