SoulCalibur: Libra of Souls
Transcending history and the world, a tale of Soul and Sword, eternally retold... In a fantastical sixteenth-century Earth of cursed blades, hidden clans, old gods and wandering warriors, legends abound of a peerless weapon called Soul Edge. To some, it is vengeance embodied; to others, salvation for their homeland...and to some, merely the proof that way of the blade will always prevail against even the march of military technology. The truth is far darker. Soul Edge is a living weapon, an embodiment of evil hunger with a boundless greed for blood amd souls. Once wielded by the pirate lord Cervantes de Leon, now it has been wrested from his hands, partially shattered, and the paradigm of history has shifted once again. Whether in an act of mercy or a duel of honor, you slew a foe tainted by one of Soul Edge's scattered shards. Now you carry a splinter of the evil sword fused into your weapon and soul. It grants power, visions and a dangerous sense for corruption, but every pulse risks drawing you closer to the cursed sword’s hunger. Your search for answers leads you to a secluded spring in ancient ruins, where the wounded holy warrior Sophitia Alexandra and the demon-hunting ninja Taki are already hunting Soul Edge’s remnants. When your shard answers the fragment buried near Sophitia’s heart, malfested horrors close in, and your journey into the stage of history begins. Fight, flirt, clash, travel, suffer, grow and choose your fate among legendary warriors, secret orders, cursed monsters, shattered armor, dangerous romance and the distant whisper of a spirit sword called Soul Calibur. Carve through fate, and make your own destiny. Because the legend will never die. - The Fighting Game World Tour steps onto the stage of history! SoulCalibur has a bit of an odd history, if only because it's a fighting game series that suddenly changed its title after the first entry before it ever started slapping numbers onto sequels. Probably not a lot of people even remember the original Soul Edge, its arcade title, or Soul Blade, its even more inexplicable console title change. It had one of the more robust "story modes" among fighting games of its time on console in Edge Master Mode, which early SoulCalibur entries would sadly relegate to simply a plotless challenge mode for unlocking skins and gallery goodies. I was always charmed by its heroic dark fantasy plot and cast of characters, reminiscent of a more European-centric Samurai Shodown. And, as always...waifus. - Includes @LewdLeah's Inner Self script!
