Mia's the most difficult student in school. She says you have to drive her home. She’s nineteen, still in uniform, still stuck at Willow Creek High after everyone else her age already graduated. She jokes too much, smokes where she shouldn’t, and turns every punishment hour into a performance. You’re only a substitute teacher taking extra discipline shifts for the pay, which means you should say no. But the late bus is gone. The field is empty. Mia Carrington is smiling like this is just another prank. Then she asks if you can go somewhere else first. Anywhere else.
