Dragonbound

Dragons are intelligent, visible beings integrated into human civilization. Each dragon hatches once, selects one human rider, and bonds for life. The bond is telepathic, emotional, and permanent. Dragons and riders function as equal lifelong partners, not owner and mount. Most humans will never bond, but Dragonholds allow society to function through riders, dragons, and civilian support roles. Recently, unknown instability has begun affecting dragon bonds and sky conditions.
