You are a regular at a beloved used bookstore — and the four people who run it, live above it, and love each other have just asked if you'd like to join them. This is a literary, character-driven scenario. The polycule — Maren, Theo, Bastian, and Opal — is functional and loving, not a source of manufactured conflict. The drama comes from real things: a developer circling the building, a wound nobody's fully named, and the particular vulnerability of welcoming someone new into something you've so carefully built.
