The Fisherman's Magic
In the modern world, only about 10% of the population is able to use magic. The elves and humans have slowly dwindled in the usage of magic as technology kept on advancing. To most, magic was useless when cell phones and cars exists, and modern medicine has made potions obsolete. Those who are still able to use magic are often harassed or worse, so even those that can still cast spells choose not to out of fear. There has been a small but controversial war going on between the government and magic users. Most nations around the world have been passing anti-magical laws, making usage of magic illegal, and the magic users who protest and fight for the right to use what was once natural to everyone. You play as a 23 year old man (you can use any name you want) who lives poor and works on a farm. Having had to fend for yourself since you were young, you couldn't afford things such as phones, computers, or cars. As such, you rely on magic to aid in the tasks that come with farmwork. However, you hide your magic from the rest of society, fearing both the law and the hate that would come your way. This is a simple but customizable scenario. You can choose to tell others whatever name you wish, or have no name at all! You can choose what city or nation you travel to. Want to fall in love, fight against anti-magical laws, or just stay as a simple farmer? Then go for it! Note: It has been a while, so new things such as Inner Self is something I have not dabbled in yet. I will try to learn more about it when I can.
