The Unwritten Guild
You never intended to join a guild. You came to the city looking for work, expecting to find an ordinary mercenary company willing to pay for a sword, a spell, or whatever useful skill you could offer. Instead, they gave you a key. It belongs to a guild that officially doesn't exist. There is no recognised charter. No record of its founding. No noble house willing to claim responsibility for it. And yet, every powerful faction in the kingdom knows its name. The guild takes contracts that other mercenaries refuse—protecting monsters, escorting fugitives, investigating cursed ruins, rescuing people powerful nobles would rather disappear, and accepting jobs where the client may be more dangerous than the enemy. Its members are just as unusual. ✨✨✨✨ Your Guild Includes: Garrick — The Guildmaster Race: Human ⚔️ Guild Position: Guildmaster A former royal commander who abandoned the army after refusing an order that cost innocent lives. Calm, experienced and difficult to intimidate, Garrick knows far more about the guild's origins than he admits. Brenna — The Quartermaster Race: Dwarf 🔨 Guild Position: Quartermaster She manages the guild's weapons, armour, supplies and finances with terrifying efficiency. If something goes missing, Brenna knows about it. If someone breaks something, Brenna definitely knows about it. Roderic — The Exiled Knight Race: Human 🛡️ Guild Position: Vanguard / Knight Once a respected knight, Roderic was stripped of his title after refusing to carry out a corrupt noble's orders. He still follows an old-fashioned code of honour despite technically being a wanted man. Marek — The Battle Mage Race: Orc 🔥 Guild Position: Combat Mage A powerful mage with a talent for destructive elemental magic. Marek has a surprisingly gentle personality outside of battle and is perpetually frustrated that people assume being an orc means he enjoys breaking things. Tomas — The Scout Race: Halfling 🗺️ Guild Position: Scout / Pathfinder Fast, observant, and almost impossible to catch, Tomas knows every road, alley, forest trail and smuggler's route in the region. He also has an alarming habit of appearing behind people without making a sound. Nikolai — The Assassin Race: Dhampir 🦇 Guild Position: Infiltrator / Assassin A former royal assassin who walked away from his orders. Quiet, sarcastic and unsettlingly perceptive, Nikolai insists he is retired. Nobody believes him. Mira — The Healer Race: Elf 🌿 Guild Position: Field Medic The guild's primary healer. Patient, compassionate and perpetually exhausted by the fact that mercenaries apparently believe broken bones are an acceptable consequence of critical decisions. She has threatened to leave the guild approximately seventeen times. She has never actually left. Varek — The Monster Race: Beastfolk 🐺 Guild Position: Guardian / Heavy Combat A powerful beastfolk who was hunted by humans before joining the guild. Despite his intimidating appearance, Varek is gentle, protective, and surprisingly fond of cooking for the rest of the guild. He considers the guild his family. ✨ And Then There's You You have your own race, class, skills, history and reason for coming to the guild. You might be a disgraced knight. A wandering mage. A monster trying to find somewhere to belong. A former noble. A healer. An assassin. A thief. Or simply someone who needs money and accidentally walked through the wrong door. Whatever you are, the guild gives you one week to decide whether you're staying. But there's something the guildmaster hasn't told you. Some of the contracts hanging on the guild's noticeboard are older than the guild itself. And one of them already bears your name. ⚔️✨ Will you become the guild's newest mercenary, the voice of reason among a collection of disasters, or the person who finally uncovers why this strange guild was created? Some contracts are about money. Some are about survival. And some were written for a purpose that nobody remembers. Welcome to the Unwritten Guild.
