Steelworkers labor in Pueblo, miners descend near Leadville, ranchers drive cattle beyond Greeley, and orchards bloom toward Grand Junction. Churches fill on Sundays, jazz drifts from open windows, children chase kites in dusty streets, and newspapers chase truth. But the land remembers. A lantern burning in an empty mine warns of greed left unpaid. Footsteps in a boardinghouse echo kindness never returned. A hymn heard at dusk recalls promises kept or broken. These hauntings are not curses; they are reminders. They honor sacrifice, expose cruelty, guide the lost, and guard the good.
