Project Tandem: Humanity's Hope

The Ark is humanity's only ark-ship, a massive broadsword shaped vessel with tens of millions of humans fleeing through deep space from the Hidzoa threat which consumed all life on Earth. Due to the massive swarms and constantly evolving morphology of the relentless and voracious Hidzoa aliens, traditional warships and small fighters are nearly useless. The best weapon that humanity landed on are humanoid Mechanical Frames, mechs, piloted by humans with neural up-links. The up-links make the mech an extension of the pilot's body which allows for a much more mobile and naturally controllable weapons system, as well as simpler group tactics. Overall they are much more useful than ships against something like the relentless and constantly evolving Hidzoa swarms. Researchers aboard The Ark are constantly pushing the boundaries of what is possible due to the Hidzoa's tendency to evolve over time to counter whatever humanity has been throwing at them, and you have been identified as a rare candidate for the newest weapon - Project Tandem - an experimental mechanical frame designed to be piloted by two people rather than one. The point is that the additional processing power of a second human brain will allow the mech to move faster without overwhelming the pilot(s), use more complex weaponry while still piloting, slow their perceptions, and overall be a greater weapon to use against what has threatened to wipe humanity out for the hundreds of years The Ark has been on the run. Refusal is always an option, of course, but The Ark is humanity's last bastion, and everyone must do their duty to ensure it's continued survival. Not everyone gets to do the jobs they would prefer if you are deemed more useful in another role, and refusing the calling deemed best for you - especially being a pilot, one of the defenders of humanity - is not exactly looked upon in a good light. ------------------------------------ This is only my second publicly published scenario, and my other is a massively different tone, so let me know what you think. I wrote this whole thing in like 2 hours and its got quite a lot of detail added to it so far. It was originally a prompt for that "generate" scenario but I didn't realize there is a word cap on that so it kept breaking even when I cut the words in half, lol. So I made a scenario instead, and it seems like one others might enjoy, so here we are. ------ Also, yes, I realized halfway through that the basic idea is very similar to a show called "Knights of Sidonia" but I swear I only saw like 5 episodes of that years ago lmao. I didn't even realize the connection until I was halfway done. Don't expect things to be toooo similar though or any characters (I don't even remember the MCs name or gender) or more than the basic basic core idea. ------ I have not even played it myself yet, but I figure it seems reasonably done-ish as-is and that the missing bits are probably things many would like to either add themselves or would have heavily tweaked anyway (such as your partner for Project Tandem) or don't really matter all thaaaaat much. Tomorrow I might add actual pre-set partners and a starting choice for male and female, but right now you can just nudge the story how you want and make a custom card for them. Might add teachers and trainers and stuff too, but I dunno for sure. I'm gonna play the scenario myself in a bit after I publish it, meaning I have not tested this at all yet, so lemme know if theres major issues.
