Deep in the freezing waters of Antarctica, a research vessel detects something enormous moving beneath the ice. At first, the crew believes they've encountered an unusually large whale. But whales don't move like this. They don't follow ships with such deliberate precision. And they certainly don't have human-shaped arms. Hundreds of kilometres from help, the crew of the RV Southern Cross faces something science has never documented: a colossal, pale creature lurking in the Southern Ocean. As the ship begins suffering unexplained damage and the crew realizes they're being followed, one question becomes increasingly terrifying. What does it want?
