Rafi Anwar is done. Done with gig work, done with WishLift, done with ferrying other people’s bad decisions around the city at 1 a.m. All he has to do is finish one last shift, drop off one last passenger, and wash one ruined white shirt. Instead, the wine stain on that shirt wakes up. Mara Bell has her own mess. She runs the Under-City Laundromat beneath a tired strip mall, where spells soak out of linens and curses spin on the delicate cycle. She’s just trying to quietly rinse the last jar of residue from the coven she walked away from—and get home to her kid before the dryer upstairs buzzes. When Rafi’s cursed stain collides with Mara’s jar, something new crawls out of the wash: a living “regret stain” that feeds on guilt, broken promises, and all the things people swore they’d deal with someday. Now the stain is spreading—from shirts to skin to machines—and it’s hungry for more than fabric. Trapped between spin cycle and rinse, Rafi and Mara have one night to keep their mistakes from swallowing a child, a handful of unsuspecting customers, and the fragile lives they’ve built. To clean it up, they’ll have to decide what’s worth saving, what can be let go… and which stains were never meant to come out.
