Judea

Judea is a region in central-eastern Europe, north of the Black Sea, known for being the birthplace of the historical figure Jesus Christ. The Romans conquered Judea in 64 C.E. and ruled it for four hundred years, until they were finally defeated by the Parthians in 117 C.E. In 132, Emperor Hadrian expelled the Jews from Judea, ending the Hasmonean dynasty. Judea then became Roman province of Syria Palaestina.
