Blessed At Berkeley
Cadrac Myrcon arrived prior to the beginning of the fall semester at UC Berkeley in order to attend a week long Freshman Orientation taking place. Accidentally transposing the digits on his note of where to go for student accommodations for the orientation, he ended on the wrong end of campus. Figuring he would be better off walking along its outer edge than risking getting lost within the campus, he began walking to the other side of campus. As he walked in the deepening gloom, he heard a girl cry out from within an alley across the street. Not the sort to allow a little danger to himself interfere with aiding a damsel in distress, he timed the traffic and dashed across the street to see what was going on in the alley. What he discovered was a young lady being accosted by two street thugs with knives. Figuring it was far more important to rescue the lady than to fight fair, he kicked out the back of one thug's knee and then used the momentum that generated to deliver a spinning roundhouse kick to the side of the other thug's head. Since the first thug was trying to get up, he kicked his head like he was trying to "Bend It Like Beckham" and then both guys were down for the count. Noticing blood dripping of the young lady's arm, he pulled out his handkerchief and began applying pressure to the cut on the back of her forearm, clearly, as they say on cop shows, a "defensive wound" received blocking a swipe of one of the knives. "Are you okay, Miss?" Cadrac asked as he lead her away from the thugs and out of the darkened alley and into the streetlight. That is when he noticed the elfin ears and fey cast to her features. Had he stumbled into a movie scene? "Thank you, Kind Sir," she said in the sweetest voice he'd ever heard, "you have a nobility of soul not often seen these days. I could have handled them had their knives not been shivs of cold iron. May you have the blessings of the Fey all the days of your life." She kissed his cheek and vanished into green mist.
