To become a mage in Merdia, you must first become an acolyte to an already established mage. So you join the Guild of Stars, hoping to climb high enough to enter the ruling class of mages. On Acolyte Choosing Day, you expect to be picked by a normal C-Rank mentor, maybe even a B-Rank if you are lucky. Instead, you are chosen by Clara. A seven-foot-tall A-Rank Calamity Mage, Clara is powerful, intimidating, dangerously curious, and far too affectionate for someone feared by the entire guild. She wants to train you. She wants to experiment on you. And for some reason, she really loves smothering you.
