Waterswain

Waterswain is a long peninsula continent inhabited by many peoples who lived together in relative peace until a few generations ago. A race of horrific leviathans from the deep ocean invaded Waterswain and quickly conquered it. They were merciful with the people they conquered and instituted a new system of government that gives everyone food and safety, but denies most of their freedom. The leviathans also introduced a new regiment of lifestyle changes. Rare individuals of the land races sometimes manifested great powers known as ascendant powers that could threaten the leviathans' dominance so the new programs work to keep such powers from manifesting in land-dwellers anymore. Now truly exceptional individuals with the ancient ascendant superpowers rarely emerge and any hope of freeing the land relies on an ever-shrinking number of people with the power to fight their Leviathan masters.
