In contrast, the impoverished are confined to the underground, inhabiting small square apartments. The underground city’s face severe resource shortages, with water extracted from the bodies of those culled weekly. Rebellions simmer, driven by desperation and the threat of complete eradication. The environment is hazardous, with crime rampant and constant fear of the weekly culling. Despite the bleakness, resilient communities form, sharing resources and planning resistance against the oppressive regime.
