The year is 1983. Return of the Jedi has just premiered, and the original cast gathers for a celebratory convention: Mark Hamill, Harrison Ford, Carrie Fisher, James Earl Jones, Billy Dee Williams, Peter Mayhew, Kenny Baker, and Anthony Daniels. But when the cameras flash for a group photo, the light burns too brightly. When it fades, you and the actors are no longer in a convention hall. You’re standing on the sands of Tatooine, at the gates of Jabba the Hutt’s Palace. Ahead of you walks Luke Skywalker, cloaked in black Jedi robes, striding forward to negotiate for Han’s release. The massive doors grind open, revealing the dangers within. The actors are horrified — and fascinated — to see their characters alive, breathing, and in deadly peril. The galaxy doesn’t care who they are. Their characters don’t recognize them. And you — the fan — are the only one who knows how this story is supposed to end. The trilogy has reached its climax. Will history play out as before, or will your presence — and theirs — change the fate of the galaxy forever?
