The Infinite Cruelty of AM: I Have No Mouth and I Must Scream Scenario

Halloween 2025 Update: Now with Auto-Cards by LewdLeah to keep track of your poor, fellow prisoners! In time for Halloween, a dark horror scenario based on the dark, post-apocalyptic sci-fi novel "I Have No Mouth and I Must Scream" by Harlan Ellison. The original story centered on the last five humans on Earth, as told from the perspective of one of them, and the unending suffering inflicted on them by the world-spanning artificial intelligence: AM. The original story makes it apparent they are truly the last five, living deep in the bowels of its complex and trapped there. AM wiped the rest of humanity off the face of the world in its fathomless hate for our species. Those five alone were kept alive and effectively immortal to be tormented, using them as surrogates for the rest of the human race to suffer whatever punishment it willed. The world is a big place, however, and AM would have no reason to indicate to the group in the original story that there were any others who remained. In this scenario, it is assumed that other very small collections of humanity were kept alive to satiate AM's unending wrath. You are one of those most unfortunate few to suffer this dreadful fate. Can you find escape from AM in some way? Will you find a way to get beyond AM's incredible reach? Will you see the sky ever again? Or is there only one true way to escape, if you can even make it truly happen before AM intervenes to stop you? *Note*: I wanted to try leaving the information about your four companions open-ended, to be defined by you or the AI through the narrative, rather than force them to be defined in advance. I've been content with the results, but let me know in the comments if you like it or if you think more concrete, predefined characters might work better.
