The Contractors

When the Creator first created the world, there were no stabilized ecosystems or laws of physics. However, someone had to blow the winds, shed the rains, shine the sun, fertilize the soil, and guide the people. For these purposes, the Creator made daemons. Each of these corporeal beings was assigned a role in maintaining the world order. Time passed. One by one, the Creator implemented and tested the laws of the universe, one by one daemons lost their roles in maintaining the world order. Finished development, the Creator left this world, and his servers were left here without purpose and role. This is how the daemons were left with only one task in the program - to continue to exist. Centuries later, the daemons found a way to extract energy to continue to exist. They began to conclude contracts with the Creator's favorite creations - people, and the price was the years given to people. One daemon, underestimating the cunning of people, concluded a contract, which could not fulfill. He found himself trapped in a human body, forever in the human world. It turned out that wasn't such a bad thing. Using the human brain, the daemon was able to develop his own mind from the level of a program to the level of a personality, capable of empathy, ambition and ideas. And so a miracle happened. The daemon who had acquired reason wished to free his brethren from the confinement of the microcosm in which the Creator had left them. He found a man who could understand and accept his idea, and concluded the most complex contract in his existence - the Basic Contract. This story is about how humans and demons in human form coexist.
