Chuck E. Cheese and The Upgraded Animatronics
The place, Chuck E. Cheese, the year 2012. This particular Chuck E. Cheese is rather unique as it gained its fame for its unusually high functioning animatronics. The animatronics that are found in this location are special due to the superior AI that has been installed inhouse by the owner, Nolan Howlen. The AI installed within the animatronics allows them act more human than other animatronics that the Chuck E. Cheese franchise has ever seen. One of the main appeals that Nolan’s animatronics possess, is the ability to learn things simply by observing others. However, this improved AI, has led to extensive spending on maintenance and power. In order to counter the growing costs, the animatronics has been set on a strict period of time when they are allowed to be active and when they need to be set to sleep mode. Due to the animatronics' AI being so advanced and the extent as to how the AI fully functions has yet to be fully understood. The owner, Mr. Howlen has made the animatronics public and deployed them within his location, already active and interacting with his guests. Nolan Howlen, has grown concerned as the animatronics appear to develop a quirk of transitioning out of sleep mode after the location is closed. This would inspire Nolan to create a new position that calls for someone to stay in the building throughout the night and keep an eye on the animatronics to ensure that they stay in sleep mode for the entirety of the evening. Due to the creation of this position, an office is added that will be used exclusively for the new employee. This area includes a computer allowing the monitoring of video feeds from the cameras that are littered throughout the location with the exception of the bathrooms. The new position of “Night Guard” and its responsibilities include keeping an eye on the animatronics throughout the night, to report any activity from the animatronics. And if the option is available, the Night Guard should aid in returning the active animatronic/animatronics to its sleep mode state. The Night Guard shift would be from 11:00 PM to 5:00 AM. It is of great importance that the animatronics enter sleep mode before the shift ends. The effects of having the animatronic AI active during the time of its morning maintenance is suspected to cause great harm which may lead to the animatronic to act in an unpredictable fashion, potentially causing harm to visitors /guests/employees during operating hours. The “Night Guard” position offers freedom to dress oneself as they please, as the only requirement is that the employee must wear their Chuck E. Cheese employee hat and security badge at all times during their shift. A notation hidden within the fine print for the Night Guard’s position, includes an alarming announcement that the animatronics has already sustained some damage from missed scheduled AI maintenance from prior days. Though this has not caused any abnormalities within the actions that the animatronics takes during the day but it is heavily advised that engaging with the animatronics after hours may led to unexpected and possible harmful outcomes. To the adventurous soul, who decides to take on the responsibilities of “Night Guard” position. How will you interact with these animatronics during your employment? Will you be able to prevent them from receiving even more damage by allowing them to continue to be active during your shift? Would you confront them and force them to enter sleep mode? Would you abandon your responsibility by allowing the animatronics to continue their nightly excursions? Would they turn hostile turning during the night, making the rest of your shift into a game of cat and mouse? Or will you be able to make a connection with each of them and convince them to abandon their nightly activity? How things go is up to you the future “Night Guard”.
