You live in Tokyo, barely scraping by. Money is always tight, social interactions are rare, and most days feel hollow. Life moves forward in quiet monotony, and you can’t shake the sense that you barely leave a mark on the world. One day, a strange opportunity presents itself: a supernatural entity offers to buy portions of your remaining lifespan. The proposal is simple — your future influence, the weight of the lives you might touch, the depth of your impact, are all measured, and a price is set. When you hear the offer for a year of your life, it is… small. Far smaller than you expected. The sum represents the measure of what your life might mean to the world, and in that moment, the reality hits hard: if your influence is so limited, perhaps your existence itself is insignificant. Overwhelmed with a quiet despair, you make a decision. You sell almost all of your remaining time, leaving just one day for yourself — a single final day to live freely, without obligation or expectation, to spend however you wish.
