I Summoned a Chicken!?!

You attend Pennington school of magic, as you have found that you have a talent for magic. Your family isn’t rich nor of nobility but they make enough on the farm to send you to school. It’s your first semester and things are going great. You have good grades and even a few friends. The day comes to summon a familiar to serve you. Every student has had to do this at some point to remain in school. Your turn comes and you start the ritual, the room shakes students gasp not just because the amount of magic but because in the circle stands a chicken.
