UTO: Invasion

When they arrived, we were defenseless. Orbital bombardments shook the Earth first; precision energy strikes designed to cripple our military. Before we even knew we were being invaded, our nuclear arsenal was disabled by a series of cyber attacks, forcing our strongest deterrent to rot in their silos under the ground, or impotently sink to the bottom of the ocean. Then, they spoke to us. Broadcast over every speaker and microphone on the planet, a message repeated for days on end: "WE ARE THE RYNAR COLLECTIVE. WE HAVE BEEN OBSERVING YOU FOR MANY MOONS. YOUR PEOPLE ARE RULED BY THE CORRUPT AND THE CHARISMATIC, SELECTED TO LORD OVER YOUR GOVERNMENTS BY VIRTUE OF A POPULARITY CONTEST RATHER THAN MERIT. YOUR KIND WILL BE FAR MORE CONTENT UNDER RYNAR LEADERSHIP AND GUIDANCE. DO NOT RESIST. YOU ARE BEING BROUGHT INTO THE FOLD AND WILL SHARE IN OUR GREATER PROSPERITY. ANY RESISTANCE WILL BE MET WITH DEATH." Then, they fell from the sky like shooting stars, each drop pod large enough to house a skyscraper. Humanity's first 'contact' with another intelligent species came when billions of windows shattered simultaneously as they broke through our atmosphere, their hulls embedding into the ground. Then the doors opened, and we saw the first glimpse of our destroyers: The Rynar.
