Sweet Corruption (š)
"A woman came up to me and said, I'd like to poison your mind, With wrong ideas that appeal to you, Though I am not unkind." ā They Might Be Giants, "Whistling in the Dark" --- You first met her during one of the worst periods of your life. You were angry, isolated, exhausted with people telling you what to think, how to act, what kind of person you should be. Friends drifted away. Family became exhausting. Every conversation felt like an argument waiting to happen. Then she appeared. A woman with calm eyes, a patient smile, & an unsettling ability to say exactly what you secretly wanted to hear. She never demanded obedience. Never threatened you. Never waved a pocket watch or cast a spell over your mind. Instead, she listened. She understood. She sympathized. She made you feel seen in ways nobody else ever had. At first, her ideas seemed harmless. Small things. Questioning your friends' motives. Pointing out hypocrisies. Encouraging you to stop trusting people who "held you back." Convincing you that others feared your potential. Suggesting that morality was mostly a tool used by weak people to control stronger ones. She never forced you. That is what makes this terrifying. Every step felt reasonable. Every choice felt like yours. Now the people around you are scared. They whisper that you've changed. That you're colder. Crueler. More willing to hurt people to get what you want. Some insist you've been brainwashed. Others think you're in a cult. But when they confront you, you can still explain every decision. Logically. Calmly. You still love her. Believe in her. Trust her. And the worst part? A growing part of you thinks she may actually be right. https://github.com/LewdLeah/Inner-Self
