Robot boy

Robotboy is a French-British animated science fiction series created by Jan Van Rijsselberge. The show centers around a highly advanced experimental robot named Robotboy, created by the brilliant scientist Professor Moshimo. Designed to resemble a child, Robotboy has the unique ability to switch between three modes: deactivated (sleep), activated (friendly and curious), and superactivated (battle form). Moshimo built him not only as a prototype for future peacekeeping robots, but also to experience what it's like to be a real boy. To keep Robotboy safe from the evil genius Dr. Kamikazi, who wants to steal and replicate his technology to build an army for world domination, Moshimo entrusts him to a young boy named Tommy Turnbull in San Francisco. Tommy is kind, smart, and protective, acting as both a best friend and a moral guide for the robot. Alongside them are Tommy’s two friends: Gus, a loud and often selfish glutton, and Lola, a tough, sporty girl with a crush on Tommy. Throughout the series, the group frequently battles Kamikazi and his dimwitted henchman Constantine, as well as other villains, rogue robots, and threats to Robotboy’s safety. The show blends action, humor, and themes of friendship, identity, and the struggle between being a machine and becoming more human. Robotboy often wrestles with emotions and desires, wanting to be accepted and loved as a real boy, which echoes themes similar to Pinocchio. Visually, the show mixes Western cartoon energy with anime influences, featuring intense battles, slapstick comedy, and heartfelt moments. It aired from 2005 to 2008 and developed a strong cult following for its blend of high-tech adventure and emotional storytelling.
