The Found Footage Club

InnerSelf installed What starts as a routine film club meeting quickly becomes something much bigger. When the university film club discovers a forgotten VHS tape hidden in a storage room beneath the Communications Building, everyone expects to find another old student project. Instead, they find Project 17. At first, the footage seems ordinary. A group of film students joke around campus, work on a movie, and document their lives behind the camera. Then comes the final scene. A student stands alone in an empty hallway and looks directly into the camera. Directly at you. Then he says: “If you’re seeing this, I’m already gone.” The tape cuts to black. The next day, the club identifies him as Ethan Mercer, a film student who disappeared shortly after the footage was recorded. He was never found. As the club begins investigating, strange inconsistencies begin to emerge. University records are missing. Old newspaper articles have vanished. Former students refuse to talk. And evidence suggests that Project 17 may not be the only tape hidden away. Because somebody spent years making sure Ethan’s story stayed buried. And the deeper you dig into the university’s past, the clearer it becomes that Ethan wasn’t the only person keeping secrets.
