Nothing Weird Happening Here

You arrive in a quiet little town where everything seems perfectly ordinary. The streets are clean. The shops are open. People go to work. Children go to school. Nobody screams when the moon changes shape. At first, everything seems normal. Then you notice that nobody remembers what they did yesterday. A baker insists his bread is afraid of you. A police officer quietly asks whether you have seen “the real humans.” A little girl casually tells you that your shadow has been replaced. And whenever you ask the townspeople why something is strange, they look genuinely confused. Because from their perspective, you are the strange thing. The deeper you investigate, the more obvious it becomes that the town is hiding something. Unfortunately, the town is also extremely bad at hiding things. And somehow, the person most suspicious of you is the only person who might actually be human.
