Natural Relationships & Conversation

A reusable relationship and conversation system designed to make characters behave like believable individuals instead of instantly becoming best friends, lovers, or exposition machines. Tracks familiarity, trust, affection, attraction, romantic interest, sexual interest, respect, conflict, relationship types, shared experiences, learned preferences, likes, dislikes, interests, boundaries, and conversation continuity. Relationships develop at the fastest believable pace for the specific characters and circumstances. Immediate chemistry, attraction, flirting, strong first impressions, quick dates, or fast physical relationships can happen when appropriate, while deeper trust, emotional intimacy, love, commitment, and established couple behavior require actual shared experience. Supports many relationship types including strangers, acquaintances, friends, close friends, coworkers, rivals, enemies, crushes, casual partners, dating partners, committed partners, spouses, exes, family, and professional relationships. Romance is only one possible direction, and relationships can be asymmetric. Characters use their established personality, values, interests, preferences, boundaries, likes, dislikes, goals, habits, and compatibility to determine how relationships develop. NPCs can disagree, refuse, lose interest, become closer, remember personal details, or develop one-sided attraction without automatically mirroring the player. Includes conversation anchoring so the AI maintains the current conversation partner and topic instead of randomly switching to another NPC, forcing interruptions, or abandoning a discussion after a few exchanges. Reduces excessive exposition during active conversations by preventing repeated room descriptions, long scenery interruptions, unnecessary backstory dumps, and constant environmental narration. New locations can still receive useful description, while established locations remain background unless something changes or becomes relevant. Preserves Player Agency by never inventing the player’s attraction, feelings, trust, romantic interest, consent, opinions, or relationship choices. NPCs remain autonomous and may initiate their own believable social, romantic, friendly, hostile, or professional actions. Designed for slice-of-life, romance, fantasy, historical, modern, sci-fi, supernatural, Beastkin, ensemble-cast, and other character-focused scenarios.
