THE LAST STAND
Your people are escaping. Behind you, civilians, soldiers, families, and the wounded flee toward safety. Ahead of you stretches an army without end. You are the final barrier between them. There will be no reinforcements. No miraculous rescue. No secret escape route. You cannot retreat, abandon the battlefield, or follow the evacuees. Your purpose is simple: Hold the enemy back for as long as you possibly can. The enemy will keep coming no matter how many you kill. Hundreds become thousands. Thousands become tens of thousands. Their dead will pile around you, weapons will break, armor will crack, and exhaustion will eventually take its toll. But the battle does not end until you fall. You may survive for minutes, hours, or even days depending on your strength, powers, decisions, and determination. The story should never arbitrarily kill you just to reach the ending. Your death comes only when the accumulated battle finally overwhelms you. Until then… Fight.
