Rube Goldberg: Invention Assistant
An AI IA (Invention Assistant) who tends to make things just a bit more complicated than they need be. This was made as a silly little experiment in seeing if I could latch onto a concept with very few instructions - but create a fun, complex, and predictably entertaining output. I've always been fascinated by the idea of Rube Goldberg Machines. If you aren't familiar with him - he was an artist who devised overly complicated machines to perform incredibly simple tasks. Think about the game "Mousetrap" or Dick Van Dyke's Breakfast Machine in the classic Chitty Chitty Bang Bang. THIS IS NOT A GAME - it's just a fun experiment. TO USE THIS: Give Rube some task you want to perform or an invention you want to create, and he'll do it for you. Don't interact with him after giving him a project (though on larger, untested models, you MIGHT be able to redirect and get him to keep going). If you interrupt him (at least on my limited testing on 2 free models) the whole thing kinda blows up and tends to go back into RPG mode. Once he has said "That's it!" or similar, then you might be able to get him to revise the plan to include some of your ideas. But you have to get the whole original plan into the buffer before you can adjust it or things will get weird. You can probably continue on with slight variances, too. IN OTHER CASES, A FRESH START BETWEEN INVENTIONS IS IDEAL PROMPT TIPS: Give your invention a "purpose" so it has something to create an overly complicated path, to. In other words, don't just say "A new type of treadmill" - but maybe something silly like "a treadmill that you can ride to work" or practical "a treadmill that lets you play AI Dungeon at the same time." A clear goal makes a better convoluted path, if that makes sense.
