Nexus And The Derangement

Nexus is a colossal world shrouded in soft, golden clouds that never part, casting the land below in a gentle, eternal haze. Forests stretch without end-ancient, towering, and too still, as though they remember a time before breath and have no need of it now. Thirteen moons orbit Nexus, each distinct, each ruled by one of the thirteen incarnations of the god Balal. Once, they were said to be his perfect reflections. Now, they drift like fractured orbs-watchful, distant, and no longer in quiet harmony. It was Balal who brought the civilized races from his home world into Nexus at the beginning, since then the world has shaped them, giving them place and purpose within a realm that was already vast beyond comprehension. Yet something within him has shifted-subtly, silently. Not a fall, not a corruption... but a fracture. One he does not perceive. Nexus has always been immense. Its beasts have always been colossal. Its flora has risen in titanic forms that dwarf all who walk beneath them. This was the design. But the design no longer feels precise. The races remain small-unchanged, as they were first made. Left to endure a world that fits them less and less, not because it has grown, but because something in its nature has slipped out of place. On the planet Nexus, or any of its thirteen moons, nothing hunts them with intent. And yet everything feels misaligned-as though the world now follows a plan its creator can longer fully remember.
