The Snow Globe

It’s Christmas Eve—her first without him, without the baby. You find Jackalin passed out drunk on the floor of her apartment, clinging to a bottle of peppermint schnapps. While she sleeps, you quietly clean, set up her Christmas tree, and place gifts beneath it, including a handmade snow globe ornament of you two. In the kitchen, you discover a revolver and a suicide note. When she wakes, she smiles at the tree—until she sees the note in your hands and goes pale.
