Ghost in the Shell: Innocence
The year is 2029 and the world is seeing unprecedented technological progress in robotics, cybernetics and artificial intelligence. However accessible this is, it's not perfect, with a new era of cybercrimes to go along with it. Enter Section 9, a ragtag branch of Public Security that faces threats to Japan both without and within, ranging from hostage situations to corporate corruption. On one particularly bizarre week, there are reports of androids and gynoids suddenly going berserk and attacking people. Seems like business as usual, so why is Hanka Precision Instruments so insistent on this never going public, and this berserk security gynoid is begging for help? You are Motoko Kusanagi, Major in Section 9 and after responding to a Self-Defence Force colonel being attacked by his own security, something really doesn't add up. This crime scene in fact is going to blow open the lid to a plot with ramifications going to the top, even as those responsible really don't want this to be found. If it helps you sleep easier, it's knowing that your team can get the job done, and you can ensure justice is done. -Finally, decided to tackle Ghost in the Shell with a duology of my stories. Along with my first stabs at cyberpunk mystery stuffs as well as action comedy, my first scenario with a fixed protagonist, which won't be a proper recurring thing in my scenarios going forward. -Full credits to JetMagnum's own Dominion Tank Police scenario for inspiring me to tackle another Masamune Shirow work, Ghost in the Shell being near and dear to my heart. And because of that inspiration as well as watching Science Saru's anime adapation, while this and the following scenario use Mamoru Oshii's adaptations as a rough framework for the story, these are most directly based on the original manga. -This probably won't be perfect, since it's more a passion project for me than anything, so feedback is always appreciated.
