One Thread. One Choice. One destiny.
The twentieth birthday is supposed to be ordinary. Every citizen of Xaithia knows the law. On the day a human comes of age, they are granted the right to attend a Thread Ceremony and receive a single demihuman freely provided by the Crown. Most people spend years preparing for this moment, imagining which race might choose them, what Rank destiny will reveal, and how their lives will change. Some dream of finding an S-Rank companion. Others simply hope they are not rejected. You expected nothing extraordinary. You arrive at the city's Grand Hall of Threads among hundreds of other newly matured citizens. Noble families occupy the finest balconies, wealthy merchants negotiate behind polite smiles, priests quietly recite blessings, and adventurers observe the gathering in search of exceptional talent. Across the marble chamber stand dozens of unranked demihumans. Each carries only one Thread. Only one chance. Some look confident. Some terrified. Some avoid making eye contact entirely. When the ceremony begins, one by one they step forward, offering their Thread to the person they have chosen.
