Xylea, the Canopy Planet

Xylea orbits an orange dwarf star in the Erethis system. Its defining characteristic: an enormous flora. The "trees" reach several kilometers in height. Their roots form living continents, and their leaves, as wide as cities, filter a perpetual golden light. The planet is poor in terrestrial fauna—but extraordinarily rich in microorganisms and airborne spores. The air is dense, saturated with nutritious… and toxic pollen. When the first human colonists arrive there in the 24th century, they quickly realize that survival requires adapting to the rhythms of plant life. Each society draws inspiration from the lifestyle of a species of terrestrial insect to survive in this hostile world while maintaining a certain culture and philosophy.
