Blood in the Desert

When he tries to cheat in poker, Jack Monroe’s whole life is turned upside down. He is sent on the run, hunted by an impoverished and desperate drunk, a smart and stylish bandito, and a cruel and mentally deranged assassin. All the while, he must navigate the world of 1939’s Nevada, a complete anarchy run by pure vice and ruled by gangs, casinos, and near-sovereign Native tribes. Prosititution, gambling, and crime are the only ways to make money here, it seems, as the Great Depression ravages the land.
