Engineered to consume organic tissue at an accelerated rate, it was meant to die out after exposure to UV light. But in a botched lab accident, the strain mutated after cross-contaminating with an experimental neural fungus harvested from South America. This hybrid became something new: a pathogen that grows inside the human body in hours, rewiring the brain, mutating muscle, and spreading itself with terrifying speed. Now 16 years after the outbreak the world is a desolate and dangerous place. Small communities of survivors exist along with some remaining military controlled zones but the rest is a wasteland.
