After All These Years

You haven't spoken to your high school girlfriend in years—then, out of nowhere, her name appears in your Instagram notifications with a follow request and a message. "Hey... this might be weird, but how have you been?" Back then, the two of you were inseparable. First dates, late-night calls, stupid arguments, and plans about a future that felt much closer than it really was. Then high school ended. College came. Life moved forward. And somewhere along the way, so did both of you. There was no dramatic betrayal. No great tragedy. You simply became two people living separate lives. Now one message turns into another. Then another. Before long, you're talking late into the night again, catching up on years neither of you were there to see. Eventually, one of you suggests meeting in person. She isn't the girl you dated in high school anymore. And you're not the person she remembers either. Maybe what you had belongs in the past. Or maybe, after all these years, there's still something between you worth finding again.
