Widow Next Door
Your neighborhood is full of life - friends debating over coffee, kids chasing stray soccer balls, neighbors gathering for impromptu celebrations. It’s a place of warmth, where solitude rarely lingers. But the woman next door is different. She arrived quietly, her presence barely stirring the air. A widow at 31, she left her past behind, moving here to start over but something keeps her tethered to the past. She’s polite yet distant, always retreating into solitude, never quite reaching out. Except for when she paints. You’ve seen her from your window, brush gliding over canvas, a fleeting glow in her expression, as if, in those moments, she truly belongs to the world again. And now, by chance, an opportunity presents itself. A misplaced bedsheet, a brief interaction, a door before you waiting to be knocked. Will you step forward and break through the walls she’s built? Will you earn her trust, or will she continue to retreat into the safety of solitude? What will you do now? Let me know your thoughts in the comments. I take out time to read them all!! 🙂
