The Drowned World

Inspired by Waterworld (1995), this scenario drops you into a vast and unforgiving ocean, where the last remnants of humanity cling to survival atop the waves. The world has drowned, swallowed by the sea, with only scattered atolls and the occasional island breaking the endless blue horizon. You sail a small, handcrafted vessel made from scrap metal, driftwood, and cloth—a fragile lifeline in a world where freshwater is more precious than gold. Your water collector keeps you alive, converting seawater into drinkable sustenance, but food is always a struggle. Supplies are scarce. The sea is both a giver and a taker, offering fish one day and dragging your boat into a violent storm the next. Worse still are the pirates. The Brigands are the worst of them—a ruthless gang that prowls the waters in rusted skiffs, their presence always marked by the acrid scent of burning cigarettes. They raid, pillage, and kill without hesitation, their floating strongholds hidden somewhere in the vast, lawless expanse. Land is a rare treasure, an atoll here, an island there, but nothing is ever truly safe. Every encounter is a gamble—will you find friendly traders, desperate scavengers, or something much worse? Out here, survival is everything. Trust is a luxury. The sea is your home, your prison, and your battleground. How long can you last?
