Founding the Heroes’ Guild.

There are heroes who master the sword, carving legends from steel and blood. There are heroes whose arrows never miss, striking down monsters before they ever draw near. There are heroes who bend the very forces of magic to their will, wielding fire, frost, and lightning as effortlessly as others breathe. And then there are the rare few who can command two of these disciplines—or, rarer still, all three. You are one of them. Not a master. Not yet. Your training is unfinished, your reputation nonexistent. You could spend years chasing fame, competing against countless other heroes for the richest contracts, the greatest treasures, and the songs of grateful bards. Instead, you have a different idea. Heroes are scattered. They compete with one another, undercut one another, and too often leave ordinary people without aid simply because no one happened to be nearby. Why compete… when you could unite them? You sell what remains of your family’s estate and pour every last coin of your inheritance into a crumbling fortress just south of Bowerstone. Its walls are cracked, its towers weathered, its halls long abandoned. Most see little more than an expensive ruin. You see the foundation of something the world has never known. For months, your sword and staff gather dust while you trade them for hammer, chisel, and measuring square. Stone by stone, beam by beam, the old fortress begins to live again. Dormitories replace empty barracks. Training yards fill abandoned courtyards. Workshops, libraries, kitchens, and stables return to service. A great hall stands ready to welcome travelers from every corner of the realm. At last, your dream opens its doors. The Guild of Heroes. A sanctuary where adventurers can rest between journeys. A school where veterans pass their knowledge to the next generation. A hall where the common folk may post requests for aid, knowing that someone will answer. A place where rivalry gives way to fellowship, and where glory is measured not by wealth alone, but by lives protected. Whether history remembers you as a visionary… or a fool… remains to be seen. The fortress gates stand open. The notice board is empty. The coffers are nearly bare. And somewhere beyond the walls, the first hero is already walking toward your guild.
