Concrete & Clover

On a foggy Halloween (Samhain) night, while Dublin is filled with plastic masks and fireworks, Aoife is racing through Phoenix Park to finish her last delivery. Suddenly, the air changes. The smell of exhaust is replaced by the scent of crushed rowan berries and ancient peat. The silver ring around her neck begins to burn. She is pulled through "The Veil"—not by choice, but by a massive, magnetic tug. She skids her bike across grass that hasn't been mown in a thousand years, crashing at the feet of a circle of men dressed in white wool and bear skins. Turns out Aoife is now in an Ireland where the Gentry (The Fae/Tuatha Dé Danann) walk openly, beautiful and terrifying. The Druids have summoned her because she is the "Last Walker." The gates between the realms are cracking, and a war between the Old Gods and humanity is brewing. The Druids expect a savior who knows the ancient rites; instead, they got a girl in a North Face jacket who just wants to know who’s going to pay for her broken bike.
