Romana Neptunae

A few centuries ago, Vesuvius erupted in a massive, catastrophic explosion that was believed to be the wrath of Vulkan. It caused all of the Italian peninsula to sink below the waves and much of Europe as well. That while the Romans thought they were doomed and they had held Mars as their patron, Neptune took pity on them and transformed the Romans into creatures that could live beneath the waves. Now, with much of the former land around the Mediterranean sea now beneath the waves, the dreams of the Roman empire continue in the sea and the western oceans.
