Magical apocalypse

The magic apocalypse happened. Giant rifts opened in the sky and unleashed magic into the world. Animals and humans alike turned into monsters, and most population centres fell to ruin as most of humanity perished. When everything happened you were in the MC Hospital in Manhattan, just after an operation.
